Boxer-model Tomomi Takano (7-1, 5) may not have had a break out 2014 in the ring but she did manage to rack up 3 wins and put her sole career defeat, a 5th round TKO to Kai Johnson, well behind her. Now she looks forward to 2015 and what a year it promises to be as she has already found herself becoming a news item in Japan. The main story revolving her has been regarding a comedian and a movie however for us boxing fans there is talk about her return to the ring later this year.
The reports about Takano's boxing future look interesting to say the least and it's now widely accepted that she will be back in action in either April or May. At the moment no opponent has been named for Takano's next bout though the fighters has hinted that she has eyes on an OPBF title.
At the moment the OPBF female Super Flyweight title is vacant, after Tomoko Kawanishi announced her retirement last year, and we suspect that will be the option that Takano chases. An alternative is that she heads to 118lbs and attempts to claim that title, though we suspect that may be harder to win for boxing beauty of Japan.
Another interesting note to make about this particular bit of news is that we may well see former world title challenger Hisashi Amagasa (28-6-2, 19) return to action on the same show. He and Miss Takano are well known to have a close friendship and we'd certainly not be shocked to see the two on the same show again here, just as they have done in several recent bouts.
