The hope was for Hai to impress and help put Viatnamese boxing on the map, following a successful amateur career. The result wasn't a win for Hai but was certainly a credible showing as he did enough to earn a majority draw.
Tameda used his knowledge of the ring well, and forced Hai to have an unexpectedly tough baptism to his professional career but Hai's toughness and determination showed through as he continued grit his teeth and fight back, refusing to just accept the loss.
With his effort Hai earned real credit and seems to be hoping to have a career in Japan. The draw may not have been the impressive result that he and his team had been hoping for but the performance was a very credible and gutsy one, and one that earned him the respect that he'll need going forward. Hopefully those behind him realised that he needs better training and that nerves showed here, and given that the team behind him are experienced we suspect they will have been encouraged by his debut, and not too disappointed by the draw.
