We're pretty much waiting for big announcements at the moment regarding future bouts involving the likes of Katsunari Takayama, who we now know will fight on September 27th, Ryota Murata, who is expected to make his US debut in November, and Naoya Inoue, who is lining up his first defense of the WBO Super Flyweight title.
Although the wait for those stories is taking longer than we had hoped we did stumble on a very bizarre story earlier today, a bizarre but serious story involving boxer Ikki Kotsugai, 24.
The story that is currently hitting the papers is one of love, relationships and jealous with Kotsugai now being held by the police following a very serious assault on a 42 year old lawyer.
The reports we've been sent suggest that Kotsugai, a student at a university in Nakano Ward, got into an altercation with the lawyer. The youngster, reportedly, beat the lawyer almost into a state of unconsciousness before unzipping the older man's trousers. With victim exposed the youngster then used shears to remove the genitals of the victim.
Kotsugai has been charged with inflicting bodily harm and is reported to have admitted his guilt, telling the police that he had “Cut off his genitals and flushed them down the toilet”.
Whilst the motive isn't fully known one report has stated that Kotsugai did it following the man's romantic involvement with Kotsugai's wife, who worked at the same office as the lawyer.
There are reports suggesting Kotsugai was a professional boxer though we have struggled to track down his record, and we suspect he was still an amateur fighter or a fighter with a pro license but was yet to make his debut.
