Earlier this week we reported that a major meeting will take place in Uzbekistan tomorrow between the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and the country's boxing federation. Originally it was unclear what the meetings would be about though today it's become a lot clearer with sources reporting that the meeting will not be about massive changes.
The meeting is to announce that Sherzod Tashmatov, the vice-president of the boxing federation of Uzbekistan, is to step down and to have his replacement being announced.
Tashmatov has, by all accounts, had issues working with Umid Ahmedjanov, and despite the great success of the Uzbek team their relationship continued to falter. We'll certainly see more about this happen tomorrow, following the meeting, but we are glad that the meeting appears to be about just replacing someone, rather than any wholesale changes with what has been a very successful set up.
