The highly controversial Shiro Kameda, the patriarch of the Kameda boxing family, may be best known as one of the "bad guys" of boxing but it appears that he's wanting to put his skills as a teacher to good use.
Having trained his 3 sons when they were young Shiro knows more than most about developing boxing talent and appears happy to use that knowledge to try and bring through the next generation of boxing talent from Japan. This has seen him setting up an amateur gym with the hope of creating not just another talented fighter but an Olympic medal winner.
Whilst it's far too late for Shiro and his fighters to be thinking about the 2016 Rio Olympics the focus seems to be on the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. The idea seems to be that with a few years of work Shiro will manage to create a star that will be huge, and we really mean huge, at home in Japan.
Whether you like him or loathe him it's great to see Shiro wanting to help further boxing in Japan rather than just his own children and we hope that he has just as much success with his young crop of amateurs as he did with his own sons.
