Earlier today in Almnaty, Kazakhstan, local fans had the chance to celebrate the professional debut of former amateur star Miras Ali Sarsenov (1-0, 1) [Мирас-Али Сарсенов].
The 22 year old Sarsenov, who won 188 of his amateur bouts, looked sharp from the off, but was up against an opponent who offered very little, with Georgian fighter Davit Natsvlishvili (3-4, 1) looking totally out of his depth.
The Georgian, who was just 18 years old, really shouldn't have been in there with Sarsenov and it showed.
Natsvlishvili was down in round 2, before being stopped later in the same round when it was clear he wanted out after taking 2 clean right hands.
Given Sarsenov's amateur pedigree this really was a pointless bout, and hopefully MTK will push him harder than this quickly, before he stagnates. Problem is that MTK aren't known for testing their prospects and there is a genuine worry that Sarsenov will spend the next year or two being matched at this level and really miss out on his chance to develop.
As for Natsvlishvili, we really wouldn't want to see him again any time soon. He offered very, very little.
Earlier today news broke that Kazakh fighter Miras-Ali Sarsenov (0-0) [Мирас-Али Сарсенов] would be making his debut on October 12th in Almaty., at the Grand Park shopping center.
Not only was the date and venue for the former Astana Arlan's fighter revealed but so to was his opponent, with Sarsenov's opponent being named as Georgian fighter Davit Natsvlishvili (3-3, 1).
According to Kazakh sources the 22 year old Sarsenov had over 211 amateur bouts and won 188 of them, and was also a standout in the WSB. AIBA once described him as "Kazakhstan’s new young sensation" and those in Kazakhstan are very excited about him and his future.
