Earlier today Filipino fans in Pasig City had the chance to see a double title show at the Yñares Sports Arena, and whilst the show did lack international attention it did feature some semi-notable fighters.
Arguably the most well known was former world title challenger Bernabe Concepcion (34-7-2, 20) who actually came up short in an attempted defense of the WBO Oriental Super Bantamweight title. The 28 year old 2-time world title challenger was dropped in the opening round before being narrowly out-pointed by former OPBF title challenger Jimmy Paypa (18-3-1, 6), who scored his second win since being stopped by Shingo Wake. Paypa, a 22 year old southpaw, claimed his first professional title with this win and will be looking to get into the WBO world rankings in the near future.
On the same card Roberto Gonzales (27-2, 17) claimed the GAB Lightweight title by scoring a stoppage over the previously unbeaten Arjan Canillas (13-1-2, 10), who was stopped in round 7 due to a cut. The loss for Canillas will be a notable setback but at just 22 years old it's not even close to the end of the line for the still promising "Spartan". As for Gonzalez sees him scoring a 7th straight win as he claimed his first career title.
