We're sad to report the recent death of former Japanese world title challenger Hurricane Teru, who passed away in early 60's.
Teru is best known for giving his all in a losing world title effort to WBC Bantamweight champion Lupe Pintor back in 1981 though had previously been a 2-time Japanese Bantamweight champion.
Teru, born in 1952, had a professional career that began in 1970 and ended in 1982. During that time he fought 51 times and notched up a steady record of 35-13-3 (15). Unfortunately his record was left marked up by the fact he lost his last 4, including the Pintor fight.
Our sources tell us that Teru passed away in his home though we've got no other details on the specific date or cause of death.
