Just moments again in Changsha, China, fans saw the unbeaten Jianzheng Wang (9-0, 7) claim his most notable victory to date, stopping Thai visitor Panya Chomphoophuang (11-6-1, 8).
The Chinese fighter looked several divisions bigger than the visitor and combined the size advantages with skills and power. He would drop the Thai early in the bout, in what was a messy knockdown, before the Thai was down again, and pulled out of the bout with what looked like an arm injury.
As Wang was beginning his celebrations Panya was having his arm put into a sling, with his shoulder looking to be damaged.
Whilst this is a notable win for Wang we do wonder why he was facing an over-blown Thai visitor for the Cruiserweight title. The Thai has fought much of his career at Light Heavyweight or Super Middleweight and didn't look like he'd be able to compete physically with Wang. He did try to fight, but his shots were wide and loopy and didn't look like they had much snap on them. It's possible their loopiness was what actually caused his injury.
