The 20 year old Hirano made a quick start and landed a nasty body shot in the early stages before landing a nasty left hook that dropped Yamamoto. The 29 year old Yamamoto managed to get to his feet before the 10 count but was looking very unsteady forcing the referee to save him from any follow up punishment.
The win for Hirano was a third successive stoppage victory, a second inside a round, and looks like the sort of victory that shows his power is impressive. Whilst Yamamoto isn't anything special he had only been stopped twice in his previous 16 bouts and this was, on paper at least, a step up for the youngster.
Interestingly the man Hirano debuted against in December 2013, Tenta Kiyose, also looks to be progressing well in his career and a rematch between the two down the line could be a very interesting match up, though with both only being 20 there is no rush for that one.
