Earlier today we heard the announcement of another really promising Japanese title fight, and better yet it's acting as the co-feature on a card that already had a Japanese title fight as the headline bout.
The bout that was announced will see KO sensation Hiroki Okada (7-0, 7), pictured, battling Masayoshi Kotake (9-7-1, 5) for the vacant Japanese Light Welterweight title. This bout, which pits the #1 (Kotake) Japanese fighter at 140lbs against the #2 (Okada) is something that we are genuine excited.
This bout has come together due to the fact Keita Obara (10-1, 9) has vacated the title after making 2 defenses of the title and actually looks like one of the most interesting domestic title bouts out there right now.
Although Okada will be favoured, despite being ranked lower than Kotake, this bout should serve as a good test for the unbeaten man who has fought just 24 rounds a professional. Kotake, who has fought more than twice as many bouts as Okada, has fought 93 professional rounds and has mixed at a higher level than his unbeaten foe.
This bout joins the Japanese Light Middleweight title fight between the legendary Tadashi Yuba (45-8-2, 32) and former rival Takayuki Hosokawa (24-10-3, 8). Yuba, attempting to defend the 154lb title for the second, will know he's in for a tough contest with Hosokawa having given him a very close contest back when the men first met back in January 2011.
These bouts, along with several others, will be at the Korakuen Hall on "Dangan 95". We're waiting for further details though the show already seems to be looking like a fantastic one with 2 great bouts already confirmed.
