Yesterday those two men made weight at the first weigh in for the bout, with Wake being notably heavier than Guzman on the scales. Today the two men took part in their second weigh in as part of the IBF's rules. At today's weigh in they had to weigh within 10lbs of what they weighed in at yesterday.
Today's weigh in saw Wake come in at 126.5lbs, essentially as a Featherweight. In total Wake put on just 4.8lbs over night and he looked great again at the weigh in. Although not adding much over-night he looked calm and confident and appears to feel very comfortable at the weight.
Whilst Wake managed to really keep his weight down it's fair to say Guzman tried to pile on as much as he could over night and he went from 120.8lbs, at yesterday's weigh in, to 129.85 at today's weigh in, putting on around 9lbs over-night and coming very close to the Super Featherweight limit.
Despite being lighter yesterday Guzman appears likely to be the heavier man in the ring and has added on a good chunk of the weight that he had lost since arriving in Japan, when he was said to have been 11lbs over the limit. He'll be hoping to use that extra weight and bulk to bully and out power Wake, who will perhaps feel that by staying light he will have the edge in mobility and speed.
