Tomorrow Japanese fans in Camp Zama will get the chance to see former Japanese Super Featherweight champion Rikki Naito (14-1, 5) [内藤 律樹] face off against Filipino fighter Argie Toquero (9-4-2, 7) in a Lightweight bout.
Today those two men weighed in for the bout and both made the Lightweight limit for the bout.
On the scales a ripped looking Naito was bang on the limit of the bout at 135lbs, which is equal to the highest of his career. It's possible that Naito now sees his future at Lightweight with this being his second successive bout at the weight, and his third bout at 135lbs in his last 4 contests. Notably it will also be the second bout since he lost the Japanese Suiper Featherweight title last year, when he was beaten by the heavy handed Kenichi Ogawa.
Toquero on the other hand just under 134.5lbs, which is a career high for the 22 year old "Bomba", who has been as low as 113lbs. Although it is a career high he was 134lbs for his last bout, back in December. Although naturally smaller it did seem like the Filipino was confident of scoring a shock win and it does seem like he's not travelled just to make up the numbers.
