Tomorrow fight fans in Japan will see the second Japan Vs Dangan card. The main event of that card will see former Japanese Super Featherweight champion Rikki Naito (17-2, 6) [内藤 律樹] take on unbeaten Chinese fighter Baishanbo Nasiyiwula (12-0-1, 5) in a mouth watering clash.
On paper the bout was a really good looking one, but today things got spicy as the men took part in a foul tempered, and very public, weigh in. In fact the two men almost came to blows during the weigh in which took place at the MLB Cafe Tokyo, and had to be held apart as tempers began to flare.
On the scales Naito was the heavier man, coming in at 140lbs, and looked in great shape for a man who had been fighting at 130lbs for much of his career. He was ripped and had clearly bulked up from his days down at the lower weight.
The Chinese visitor was well under the limit, at 138.5lbs, but looked the naturally bigger and stronger man. It is worth noting that he has come in at a career lowest, after having been as high as 150lbs.
The weigh in was the first by Dangan to be held in public and it seems like the promotional company are wanting to do them more often going forward, regarding today's as a success.
