The career of Japanese youngster Kosei Tanaka (7-0, 4) [田中恒成] promises so much, and his performance earlier this year against Rene Patilano was sensational for a guy moving up in weight. Sadly however it's a career that is beginning to get very frustrating to follow with the youngster plagued by inactivity and injury.
Injury has struck again recently with Tanaka, who had planned to fight in September, having to cancel his plans following an on going injury to his right hand and wrist.
At the moment no details on the injury have been released other than Tanaka himself tweeting a message regarding the injury and explaining that it was an injury that had actually occurred back in May, when he beat Patilano. It was hoped that the hand would have healed by now but it apparently hasn't healed to a good enough standard to fight in a few weeks.
Notably Tanaka hadn't had a bout officially announced, but there had been talk about the youngster fighting for the WBO Light Flyweight title or an interim version of the title and he had been linked to Moises Funetes for a bout in Nagoya.
This set back is another for Tanaka but we're expecting his comeback to potentially now be held in December, when many other top Japanese fighters are likely to be in action.
