Although Takayama hasn't yet formerly vacated the WBO belt we have received the news that Takayama's next bout will not have the WBO title on the line. Instead he will give it up, and give up very soon.
Whilst the WBO belt will be vacated Takayama does intend to defend the IBF belt in the near future, in fact according to out source Takayama is set to announce that he will be defending the IBF title on April 27th. His opponent for that bout appears to be set as being Thailand's 21 year old Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr (21-3-1, 15).
Fahlan is a man known well to Japanese fans. In fact many of Fahlan's most notable bouts have come against Japanese fighters with his career defining win being a stoppage victory over former world champion Ryo Miyazaki, back in December 2013, whilst his most notable loss came to a then 1-0 Takuma Inoue last year.
From what we understand the bout will take place in Osaka, though no venue has been mentioned to us as of yet. It's suspected that the announcement will come shortly, in fact our source has indicated it could come later today.
For Takayama it seems that he'll defend in April then hunt a bout with WBA champion Hekkie Budler. Between now and April he's expected to renounce the WBO title to set up a bout between the fantastic Kosei Tanaka (4-0, 2) and once beaten Mexican Julian Yedras (23-1, 13), with that bout thought to be penciled in for May. Although it's strongly rumoured that Tanaka Vs Yedras is all but signed there has to be an announce from Kiyoshi Hatanaka or anyone else from Tanaka's team.
