One of the many stories breaking from Macau has seen Zou Shiming (3-0), pictured, linked very strongly to a world title fight later this year.
The reports suggest that Bob Arum, Shiming's promoter, is angling for a fight between Shiming, a 2 time Olympic and 3 time Amateur World Champion and Thailand's unbeaten IBF Flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng (12-0, 5). Most notably however seems to be the fact that that fight might be before this year is even finished.
Shiming, who fights on "Ring of Gold" against Yokthong Kokietgym (15-3, 11), will apparently have Amnat there to watch him. If Shiming, as widely expected, looks impressive against Yokthong then he will be back in action in May in a 10 rounder on another Macau show. Following that bout the plan seems to be to have him against Amnat in November, as long as Shiming continues to improve and that Freddie Roach feels his charge is ready for Amant.
