Earlier today at the Korakuen Hall Japanese fighter Yuzo Kiyota (29-5-1, 27) [清田 祐三] got the chance to walk away from the sport as he enjoyed a public retirement ceremony at a Flash Akabane promoted card.
The 2-time OPBF Super Middleweight champion took the ring to say thanks to the crowd that had supposed him during his 35 fight career. A career that saw him not win the OPBF Super Middleweight title, twice, but also run up 9 defenses of the title and challenge for both the WBO World title and the OPBF Light Heavyweight crown.
The fighter wasn't the only one to speak with fans, sponsors and officials all sharing words to the fighter who had been one of the more notable "big guys" in Japanese rings over the last few years.
As well as the words from both Kiyota and his supporters there was all a 10 bell salute for the fighter who will now be looking for a second life, outside of the boxing ring.
