The fight started well for Yordan who's pressure neutralised the good boxing skills of Taliwe. In the middle rounds it was the turn of Taliwe to have success, especially in an blistering 6th round, which was by far the best round of the contest.
Unfortunately as the action went on the later rounds the action became scrappy and messy. Taliwe was deducted a point holding whilst he was forced to take a number of eye watering low blows. Had Yordan not been the favourite he'd have almost certainly been deducted a point for those.
Due to the fact the fact had been close with each man having their clear rounds and several rounds being very competitive it was fair to say we were expecting a close decision. This was reflected in the fact we ended up with a split decision, unfortunately however two of the cards a bit wide for liking.
The score of 114-113, in favour of Taliwe seemed slightly too generous to the South African, but scores of 117-110 and 116-111 to Yordan were too generous the other way.
With the win Yordan retains his title though with he ballsy, literally, performance of Taliwe it'd be great to see him in action again. We're hoping that maybe we'll get a rematch or maybe we could see Taliwe visiting Japan or Thailand sometime in 2014.
