Earlier today we were informed that WBO #6 ranked Super Featherweight Juan Martin Elorde (16-1-1, 7) will return to the ring on March 25th to defend his WBO Asia Pacific Super Featherweight title for the second time. Elorde, the grandson of the legendary "Flash" Elorde, will be risking his title and world ranking at the upcoming Elorde Boxing Awards.
In the opposite corner to Elorde will be Japanese challenger Hirotsugu Yamamoto (16-10-2, 2).
On paper this is a mismatch and in the ring we suspect Elorde will score a relatively easy win against a challenger who has lost 4 of his last 5 bouts and been stopped 6 times in his career, including his most recent bout, last March, against Tsukasa Saito.
The bout is unlikely to tell much more about the talented "Bai" Elorde though a win will allow him to continue his pursuit for a world title and keep him on the road to becoming a world champion, just like his legendary grand father.
