Tomorrow in Osaka we get the chance to see Kazuto Ioka (15-1, 9) fighting for the third time as a Flyweight as he takes on former WBA interim world champion Jean Piero Perez (20-7-1, 14) in a bout being described as a "world title prelude", or for western fans a "tune up bout".
The bout, as mentioned, will be Ioka third at the Flyweight division as he attempts to become a 3-weight world champion and for the third bout in a row Ioka has hit the divisional limit of 112lbs when weighed for his bout, just like his opponent. For Perez this is the same weight as was when he lost to Milan Melindo back in September 2012, and we suspect the same weight he was when he was stopped by Kompayak Porpramook last year, though the weights for that bout did go unreported.
At the weigh in both looked confident and Ioka's confidence saw him promising a KO, something we'd expect in all honesty given that Piero Perez has been stopped in 3 of his last 6 bouts. Anything but a stop[page for Ioka should be considered a disappointment.
