Late last week we were informed that WBC female Minimumweight champion Yuko Kuroki (13-4-1, 6) will be back in the ring on August 16th as she takes part in a non-title fight against Thai visitor Kanittha Saknarong (0-3), in a bout to be fought at Light Flyweight.
Kuroki, who won the title last May, has defended it twice though seems likely to move up a weight sooner rather than later. Her body, at 24 years old, is still developing and we suspect that as she continue she will build into a very solid Light Flyweight in the near future.
Whilst Kanittha has yet to win a fight she has shown some ability and has so far had all 3 of her bouts in Japan. Two of those were narrow losses to Riyako Goshi whilst the other was a loss to the fringe world contender Kei Takenaka. None of those losses have been by stoppage and all 3 losses have come to fighters bigger than Kuroki.
The fight will be an 8 round contest at the Kyuden Gym in Fukuoka.
As well as Kuroki's fight the show will also feature Tatsuya Fukuhara (14-4-5, 5), who will be fighting another Thai visitor in an 8 round bout.
