(21-2-1, 8) claim the WBA Light Flyweight and join stablemates Kohei Kono (30-8-1, 13) and Takashi Uchiyama (22-0-1, 18) in becoming a world champion. That left the Tokyo based gym with a trio of world champions.
Today that trio visited the mayor or Shinagawa, Takeshi Hamano.
For WBA Super Featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama this was his third meeting with Mr Hamano, whilst Kono was meeting him for the second time and Taguchi for the first time.
Whilst the visit was an important one for the fighters it won't register on the international scene. What might matter to western fans fans however was a comment from Kono stating that he wants to fight an overseas bout this year, and in fact he suggested a bout in Macau. What this could mean is that Kono is eyeing up a potential clash with Hong Kong star Rex Tso, a bout what was also suggested last year by Kono.
