In January we reported that Koki Kameda [亀田 興毅] had taken over the training duties for his younger brother Tomoki Kameda (32-2, 20) [亀田和毅]. Today those two showed off their trainer-trainee relationship as they took part in a public work, ahead of Tomoki's March bout with Thai fighter Mike Tawatchai (42-9-1, 25) [ไมค์เกษตรพัฒนา].
The public work out saw Koki take his brother through various exercises with Tomoki looking razor sharop, in good shape and looking like a fighter who is very comfortable back in Japan under the guidance of Koki and the Kyoei gym. The fighter, and his team, stated that improvements were being made with Tomoki's fitness and his technique, with Tomoki seemingly developing the way he delivers punches.
The bout against Tawatchai will see Tomoki fighting in Japan for the first time since December 2013 amazingly however it will be his first bout at the legendary Korakuen Hall, and his first bout in Tokyo in more than 7 years! It does however sound like Kyoei make focus on getting him ring time in Tokyo, with some murmurs being that Kyoei want to try and market him more in Tokyo than in Osaka, where he has traditionally fougth whilst in Japan.
