On October 13th fight fans at the Korakuen Hall will see super prospect Hinata Maruta (5-0, 4) [丸田 陽七太] challenge OPBF Super Bantamweight champion Hidenori Otake (29-2-3, 13) [大竹 秀典]. Thankfully for those unable to make it to the venue the bout is now confirmed to be aired on TBS.
The channel have confirmed the bout will be shown on tape delay on October 14th as part of their regular "Guts Fighting" show. Whilst it's not as good as a live broadcast it was as good as we could have expected, and seems to suggest that the channel is going to get behind the winner.
The bout is notable for several reasons, not just Maruta's early step up, including the fact TBS could well be set to push the winner into a world title fight in the very near future. They aired the recent IBF title fight between Ryosuke Iwasa (24-2, 16) [岩佐 亮佑] and Yukinori Oguni (19-2-1, 7) [小國 以載] and could well be looking at the winner to face Iwasa in what would be a fantastic all Japanese bout.
