The IBF world ranked Hosokawa will be seeking his second defense of the title that he won last November, when he beat Dennis Laurente. He recorded his first defense this past July, fighting to a fortunate draw with Koshinmaru Saito, and was open about how poor that performance was. In the bout with Saito he was dropped twice before battling hard to claim the draw, a draw that many felt he was lucky to get.
For Oishi the bout will be his first title OPBF title fight, though he has fought for a WBC regional title losing to Zac Dunn in Australia back in July 2014. To date his best win has come against Hisao Narita, who he beat in April, but other than that he lacks any wins of note and will be a serious under-dog for this bout.
The contest will be held at the Sumiyoshi Ward Center, in Osaka, and will act as a co-feature on a very interest card that will also feature Koki Tyson Vs Dwight Ritchie.
