According to reports in Japan this year could be the final year in the sport for the popular Takayuki Hosokawa (28-10-4, 9) [細川貴之], the current OPBF Light Middleweight champion, and it could also be his biggest.
The 31 year old veteran from Osaka, who has been a professional since 2012, has had a memorable career which has seen him claim the JBC title, an IBF Asia title and, of course, the OPBF title. He is now eyeing up a shot to fight for a world title, hoping to end his career on a high.
Ranked #4 by the IBF at 154lbs he seems to see this year as a real chance to face a champion, with current title holder being the unbeaten American Jermall Charlo, who is unlikely to face top ranked challenger Jermell Charlo his twin brother.
Of course being highly ranked by the IBF doesn't assure Hosokawa a title fight however he does seem in a brilliant position for a world title eliminator, possibly against Michel Soro the #3 ranked contender, who is ranked #1 by the WBO. If he can get that shot then it would be a perfect way to see out his long and eventful career.
