Although neither Takashi Uchiyama (21-0-1, 17) or Akira Yaegashi (20-4, 10) have had their next bouts publicly announced both look ready to go as and when their promoters get the details sorted.
A recent pictured posted on Akira Yaegashi's blog saw both men pictured in the gym together looking in fighting condition already.
For Uchiyama the year has been a frustrating one. He ended 2013 by defending his WBA Super Featherweight title against compatriot Daiki Kaneko, it wasn't Uchiyama best performance but it was over-all solid enough against a strong, powerful fighter who we believe has the talent to become a world champion himself. Sadly since the Kaneko bout we've not seen Uchiyama in the ring, barring a interview session at the boxing day fan appreciation event.
From what we've been told Uchiyama will fight this year though with only about 11 weeks of the year left we're left wondering what sort of an opponent we will actually see "KO Dynamite" in with.
As for Yaegashi he looks in sensational condition considering he fought about 6 weeks ago losing via stoppage to Roman Gonzalez in a WBC Flyweight title bout. For Yaegasgi that was his second bout of the year following a win over Odilon Zaleta in April.
Like Uchiyama we are expecting to see Yaegashi squeeze in a bout by the end of the year, likely at 108lbs as he attempts to become a 3-weight world champion, though no announcement has yet been made on a date or opponent. We are expecting one however at the start of November with the Ohashi Gym currently busy preparing Ayaka Miyao and Ruji Hara for massively important bouts at the end of October.
