Athough the year has been relatively quiet so far for boxing fans things pick up massively this weekend with a number of notable bouts. One of those bouts sees exciting Japanese slugger Takashi Miura (30-3-2, 23) [三浦 隆司] fight in a world title eliminator against Miguel Roman (56-11, 43), in the US as part of a very good looking card on HBO.
Today, ahead of that bout, Miura left Japan and headed out to America for the fight.
The southpaw from the Teiken gym told the press that he was wanting to "prove his strength" with the bout against Roman. It seems clear that Miura will be looking for a win here and a chance tomove towards a rematch with Francisco Vargas, who beat Miura on his US debut back in 2015.
Whilst talking to the press Miura also revealed some interesting information about his sleeping arrangements and seemed to suggest that he wouldn't be sleeping on the bed in his hotel room but is instead considering sleeping on the floor, which he seems to feel will help his sleep. It seems that, because he sleeps on a futon at home, he would feel more comfortable on the floor than the bed.
For fans in Japan wanting to watch this bout, it will be aired on WOWOW Prime.
