On Sunday we'll see WBA Super Bantamweight champion Shun Kubo (12-0, 9) [久保隼] make his first defense of the title, as he goes upagainst American challenger Daniel Roman (22-2-1, 8). Today the two men were incredibly cordial as they took part in their signing ceremony for the contest, going through the formalities whilst showing that they had become relatively good friends during the week, and whilst they are fighting on Sunday, there is also a lot of mututal respect.
At today's event both men seemed confident and both suggested that they would win by relying on their boxing skills, whilst also showing that they knew what the other man brought to the fight.
Kubo seems to believe that his boxing is better than Roman's, but showed that he knew Roman was a good boxer and stiff challenger, whilst Roman believes his experience will be the key to over-coming the talented champion.
Also speaking to the media was Masato Yamashita, the chairman of the Shinsei gym, who showed his belief in his man as being the successor to Hozumi Hasegawa, a former star of the Shinsei gym.
The final pre-fight event will be tomorrow's weigh in, and then we'll just be left with Sunday's fight, as the two get to find out who really is the better fighter.
