Multiple sources have informed us that the WBA "interim" Crusierweight champion Beibut Shumenov (16-2, 10) has had to cancel his December 18th bout with former WBC champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (49-3-1, 35). The cancellation has been due to the fact Shumenov has suffered an eye injury.
Although we're not fans of the WBA "interim" title we did feel that the Shumenov Vs Wlodarczyk bout was a good one on paper so we are a little bit disappointed that this contest won't be going ahead, however there is hope that it will be rescheduled for 2016, when Shumenov has had time to recover from his injury.
As a result of Shumenov's injury the telecast will now carry Murat Gassiev (22-0, 16) against Isiah Thomas (15-0, 6) in an IBF Cruiserweight title eliminator, with the winner to become the mandatory challenger for Victor Emilio Ramirez (22-2-1, 17). That replacement is certainly not a bad bout at all for fans of the PBC series fo fights.
