Earlier today WBC Bantamweight champion Shinsuke Yamanaka (25-0-2, 17) [山中慎介] took part in a special celebration event. The event was attended by several hundred people and whilst it wasn't the sort of thing we would typically make a big song and dance over it did come with an interesting side story.
That side story is that Yamanaka will be back in the ring in September to make the 11th defense of his world title and continue one of the longest active reigns in the sport.
Whilst the full details of Yamanaka next bout weren't revealed there was some crumbs given to us with not only a "September" date but also a locale for the bout, which we now know will be held in Osaka.
Although Yamanaka failed to name an opponent, specific venue, or a date there is growing speculation that it will come on a card that is also rumoured to feature Hozumi Hasegawa (35-5, 15) [長谷川 穂積] battling WBC Super Bantamweight champion Hugo Ruiz(36-3, 32).
