We're happy to announce that Japanese Middleweight sensation Ryota Murata (4-0, 4) has maintained his stoppage run with a KO over Mexico's tough Jesus Angel Nerio (12-4, 6).
Nerio, who came in to this bout high on confidence and with reputation as being a tough guy, was stopped for just the second time in his 16 fight career. Incidentally this stoppage came in the same round as Nerio's previous stoppage loss, the 6th. Nerio's only prior stoppage came at the hands of the world ranked Jose Uzcategui and to have Murata's name up there both Uzcategui and Marco Antonio Periban, who took a decision over Nerio, is impressive given his relative lack of professional experience.
Whilst the victory was impressive given Murata's novice level experience the most outstanding thing was that he hardly got out of first gear until he turned up the heat in round 5. From then on it was only a matter of time before Murata finally saw off Nerio who was very much out of his depth from the opening round.
This bout is going to be aired on Fuji TV at 11PM Tokyo time so we'd advise you watch it, even if you do now now the result.
