On March 1st we'll get the chance to see a world title double header thanks to NTV. One of those world title bouts will see IBF Super Bantamweight champion Ryosuke Iwasa (24-2, 16) [岩佐 亮佑] make up his first defense of the title, as he battles against Filipino challenger Ernesto Saulong (21-2-1, 8).
Last week Iwasa took to social media to reveal that he had had a special poster for the show made, helping to hype up his bout with Saulong.
The poster focuses almost entirely on him, with 3 pictures of the champion on it, and only has a small number of other details contained on it. Despite the simple design it does make Iwasa look like the star of the show, and it's an interesting poster, given that the bout is seen as the secondary part of the double header, a long way behind the WBC Bantamweight title match between former champion Shinsuke Yamanaka (27-1-2, 19) [山中慎介] and controversial champion Luis Nery.
At the moment we've not yet stumbled on the official poster, which we suspect will focus more on Yamanaka than Iwasa, but it's nice to see Celes gym put this one out there for their man, and hopefully will help Iwasa to become a star in the future. The gym has long supported Iwasa, and done their best to get him opportunities and if he wins here and records his first defense it's clear his team will back him for bigger and better bouts later in the year.
Interestingly Iwasa has revealed that tickets for the bout are selling fast, and apparently the ¥20,000 tickets are almost all sold out, showing just how much demand there is for this show already.
