Whilst we're all but sure that Takashi Uchiyama (24-1-1, 20) [内山 高志] will be having a rematch with WBA Super Featherweight "super" champion Jezreel Corrales (20-1-0-1, 8) on December 31st the rumour form Japan is that that match will not be the main event of the show.
Instead it seems like the honour of being the main event could fall to WBA Light Flyweight champion Ryoichi Taguchi (25-2-1, 11) [田口良一] , with the suggestion being that because Taguchi will be defending his title, in his 5th defense, he'll be given preferential billing than Uchiyama, who will be the challenger.
The idea was floated earlier today at a lecture attended by several key figures from the Watanabe gym, including Taguchi, Hitoshi Watanabe and Rikiya Fukuhara, with Mr Watanabe being the one to mention the idea. He also stated that details of the card will be revealed shortly, likely including the Taguchi's next opponent, with some murmurs form Japan being that it will be a major opponent for Taguchi who will be looking to become the face of the Watanabe gym.
