In Metro Manila fans saw possibly the most promising of the prospects in action, Giemel Magramo (17-0, 13). The unbeaten 21 year old was making the first defense of his WBC International Flyweight title and managed to over-come fellow Filipino Renz Rosia (12-5, 6) with a unanimous decision to continue his reign. The unbeaten fighter won the title last year, stopping power puncher Jeny Boy Boca in 6 rounds and was rising a 10 fight stoppage run. That stoppage run came to an end, but Magramo did complete the 10 round schedule for the first time and will know that he stepped up a level here.
In Cebu fans had even more chances to see promising fighters as they took a step up.
One of those was power punching Minimumweight Melvin Jerusalem (10-0, 7), who came into his bout following a recent win over Florante Condes. The unbeaten 22 year old was able to over-come fellow Filipino Jonathan Refugio (15-5-4, 3). On paper Jerusalem was always going to be the favourite, especially given that Refugio was 4-4 in his last 8, however Refugio was full of confidence following a recent win over Richard Claveras and proved his toughness again here and went 10 rounds with Jerusalem in a losing effort. Refugio was dropped, and almost stopped in the final round, and the performance again showed what a great prospect Jerusalem looks to be.
Another puncher in action here was Jeo Santisima (11-2, 10) who's power did end the action as he saw off Indonesian Junior Bajawa (14-9, 7), giving Bajawa his 6th stoppage lose. The powerful Santisima dropped Bajawa mid way through round 3 and the Indonesian happily took the full 10 count.
