Amongst those fighters ignored by international press were the Penalosa brothers who both scored solid victories courtesy of hard body shots.
The more experienced of the brothers Dodie Boy Peñalosa Jr (13-0, 12), really had things all his own way as he took on Indonesian foe Dicky Amtiran (3-9). Amitran went down in round 1 after suffering from a Penalosa attack though managed to see out the round. He wasn't so comfortable in round 3 however as Penalosa unleashed a hard attack to the body which sent Amitran down for the count. The bout, a mismatch, was unfortunate as Amitran had taken the bout on short notice.
Things were a little bit harder for Dave Penalosa (9-0, 6) who was dropped himself in round 3 before seeing off Danilo Gabisay (5-3, 3). Penalosa had enjoyed success in the opening 2 rounds though appeared to take it all for granted in round 3 before being dropped heavily. The unbeaten man did well to make his way to the corner and in the next round re-found his focus to drop Gabisay twice in round 4. Gabisay did well to continue though was dropped for the count in round 5 from a solid right hand.
With both Penalosa's picking up good wins it's now hoped that they will be featured on the November 22nd Macau card headlined by Manny Pacquiao. If they are then the show could end up being a very attractive show case of Filipino talent.
