With a little over 2 weeks to go until we get the next Ohashi show we were worried about when the gym were going to release their often brilliant posters. Thankfully the wait came to an end earlier today as the issues the poster for the "49th Phoenix Battle".
The poster features current Japanese Featherweight champion Satoshi Hosono (25-2-1, 19) and his up coming challenger Gosuke Seki (15-0-2, 3) as well as a large and angry looking tiger. We're not sure what the tiger is there to represent but we've got to admit that we do find it an interesting graphic.
Although the main event, and the tiger, are both on the poster we do feel a little bit disappointed that the other top Ohashi fighters who are on the show aren't included. In fairness Ryo Matsumoto (10-0, 8) and Ryuji Hara (17-0, 10) are both in relatively easy fights but it would still have been nice to have seen them included.
The show, which takes place on June 23rd at the Korakuen Hall is a good on paper and is likely to be the last fight for several men before they move up a level. We expect Hosono to be moved back towards a world title fight, Matsumoto to be moved onto either a national or OPBF title fight and Hara to be moved towards a world title fight, if they all come through this show with wins.
