On November 7th many US fans will get their first chance to see heavy handed Japanese slugger Keita Obara (15-1, 14), who makes his US debut on a PBC show. against Nicaraguan fighter Walter Castillo (26-3, 19) in a bout that will serve as IBF Light Welterweight eliminator.
Yesterday, more than a week ahead of that bout, Obara and his team flew out to the US.
Obara, who was joined by the Misako gym Chairman and his trainer, seemed confident of picking up a win on his US debut though seems to be aware that Castillo is no pusher over and is expecting a tough contest with a man who has never stopped.
Interesting before leaving for the US Obara gave a number of comments to the media. Among those was a comment regarding his weight which is said to be on target, though he does still need to drop about 6KG's to make the divisional limit for the bout. That weight however is expected to come off very easily.
One other thing to note about this show for Asian fight fans is that it will also feature Chinese-Kazakh fighter Kanat Islam (19-0, 16) who risks his world ranking against Alexis Camacho (21-5, 19) in what should be another explosive encounter.
