For Fujioka the bout will be the first defense of the title that she won last year, when she beat Hee Jung Yuh to become the first 3-weight female world champion from Japan. The 40 year old legend of female boxing knows that father time is knocking on her career but she did look as good as ever in winning her title and it seems that she still has several years left at the top.
For Go the bout is a chance to become a 2-weight world champion , following a 19 month reign as the WBC female Flyweight champion. During her reign things were frustrating with issues regarding her gym and match making, and those things seemed to play a part in her title loss to Arely Mucino in December 2014. At 28 she's the much younger fighter but will be going up in weight for this one.
The Fujioka Vs Go is one of two world title bouts confirmed for this card, with the other bout being a WBO Atomweight contest between champion Nao Ikeyama (17-3-1, 4) [池山直] and determined challenger Saemi Hanagata (12-6-2, 6) [花形 冴美], with Hanagata getting her second world title shot, whilst the 46 year old Ikeyama will be seeking her 4th title defense.
