Hard nosed Filipino Michael Farenas (37-4-4, 29) has seen his opponent for his up coming bout, on March 21st, changed.
Originally Farenas was scheduled to fight Mexico's Miguel Zamudio (26-3-1, 14), a man best known for lasting just 68 seconds with hard hitting Dominican Javier Fortuna. Unfortunately miscommunication has seen Zamudio pull out with less than 2 weeks notice.
In Zamudio's place will be his compatriot Hector Velazquez (56-20-3-1, 38), a man with 80 professional bouts and a career that began more than 20 years ago. Of those 80 bouts he is best known for fighting the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Israel Vazquez, Rocky Juarez, Elio Rojas, Edwin Valero and Jorge Linares.
Although Velazquez has taken this fight on late notice and is 39 he is a former 2-time world title challenger, he still has his power and is still extremely tough with just 6 stoppage losses to his name. With his traits he should prove to be a decent opponent, at least in terms of excitement, for a bout with Farenas who we admit we love watching.
