We have been informed that Filipino fighter Michael Farenas (39-4-4, 31) will not be fighting Diego Magdaleno (26-1, 10) as previously reported. Unfortunately Magdaleno will be getting a shot at WBA interim Super Featherweight champion Bryan Vasquez (33-1, 17) and leaving Farrenas feeling like an avoided man.
Farenas has now seen two possible opponents get world title shots whilst he has been sat looking for an opponent for an IBF final eliminator. First it was Fernando David Saucedo (52-5-3, 8), who is getting an IBF title fight with current champion Rances Barthelemy (20-0-0-1, 12), and now it's Magdaleno.
We're hoping Farrenas will get his next fight sorted soon because he does deserve a title fight though it seems his possible opponents are falling by the way side as they get bigger fights and he is forced to sit and wait. Hopefully good things will come to those who wait and Farrenas will get his chance rather than forced to sit and wait on the side lines indefinitely.
