Earlier today we reported that Thailand's Jomthong Chuwatana (8-0, 4) struggled to make weight ahead of his 4th OPBF Super Featherweight title defence, a tough defense against Daiki Kaneko (21-3-3, 14). That bout however wasn't the only interesting bout to see it's weigh in earlier today.
Among the more notable fighters in action tomorrow on the card is the exciting and heavy handed Shoma Fukumoto (5-1, 5) who made the Middleweight limit bang on for his bout with Kazuyuki Fukuyama (9-5, 2). The bout will be the main support bout and saw Fukumoto holding a notable weight advantage over his shorter foe. Whilst Fukumoto was 160lbs dead on Fukuyama was comfortably inside the limit at 158¼lbs.
Another notable fighter in action is former Japanese Middleweight champion Tomohiro Ebisu (12-4, 12). Ebisu's "stop or be stopped" attitude has seen him losing 2 of his last 3 and as a result he has been matched lightly with the limited Tatsuro Kawabata (6-5, 2). Although Ebisu is the "name" here he was also the smaller man on the scales, coming in at 160¾lbs, the lightest he's been since he was stopped in 7 rounds by Daisuke Nakagawa back in August 2013.
We suspect we'll see Fukumoto and Ebisu both picking up wins and a possible clash between the two later this year would be very explosive and exciting so fingers crossed for that! However the chins of both men are questionable and we could end up with a pair of upsets if either man is caught clean.
