Earlier today we were informed by reliable Japanese sources that a rematch had been set between WBO female Minimumweight champion Kumiko Seeser Ikehara (8-1-2, 3) [池原シーサー久美子] and Kayoko Ebata (9-6, 5) [江畑 佳代子].
The bout is set to take place on September 21st at the Korakuen Hall and will see the two women fighting for the second time following a 7th round technical split decision win for Ikehara in May 2015. That bout was Ikehara's second defense of the title and she has since added one more, defending the belt last November against Momoko Kanda.
Notably Ikehara hasn't fought since that win over Kanda in 2015 and will be coming into this after her longest break from the ring.
As for Ebata the 40 year old veteran, who is 0-4 in world title fights and 1-6 in career title bouts, will be fighting for the second time this year, following a win in March over Sornsawan Sarakarngym. That win has been her only bout since the contest with Ikehara.
Notably no details have emerged about the under-card of this show.
