On Thursday night the WBA held a "KO Drugs Event" as part of their annual event, The headline bout from the event saw WBA interim Super Flyweight champion Luis Concepcion (34-4, 24) defeat exciting Mexican Hernan Marquez (39-7-1, 28), and avenge 2 of his defeats with the win.
In attendance for the bout was the WBA's "regular" champion Kohei Kono (31-8-1, 13) who attended as a fan and one of the WBA's current world champions.
Whilst Kono was likely to attend regardless of the main event, it does seem plausible that he was there scouting Concepcion as a future opponent and a bout between the two, for 2016, would be a potential FOTY contender, given the styles that both men have.
It's likely that Kono will face Hong Kong's Rex Tso first but with Concepcion certainly a possible opponent it's clear that the "Tough Boy" has got options out there if a deal with Tso cannot be made, or cannot be made quickly.
