Earlier today in Tokyo the press finally got the chance to see the press conference regarding the upcoming WBA Super Flyweight world title bout, between defending champion Kohei Kono (30-8-1, 13) and mandatory challenger Koki Kameda (33-1, 18).
The bout, which will take place on October 16th in Chicago, USA, has been a long awaited one and today's press conference certainly added to the anticipation.
Part way through the conference Kameda walked in, shook hands with the champion then tried to provoke a response from Kono, who did well to bite his tongue. Despite the relatively calm response of the champion he did seem to be very sure that to retain his title he'd have to score a KO.
Whilst the announcement was no surprise we were very glad to hear that Japanese fans would be getting the bout aired to them, courtesy of TV Tokyo. From what we under-stand this will be Kameda's first bout on the channel, following a long association with TBS, and it continues the strong relationship between Watanabe gym and TV Tokyo.
