Over the last few year's we've seen a lot of fights that we've wanted to see. One fight however seems unlikely to ever happen, despite being a fight that has "Asian FOTY" written all over it.
That bout is a contest between exciting Korean Min Wook Kim (12-1, 9) and the monstrously hard hitting Keita Obara (14-1, 13). It's a bout we've wanted for several years and a bout that, at one point, looked very plausible. In fact when Kim held the OPBF Light Welterweight title title Obara was one of the few exciting looking rivals for the Korean.
Kim, of course, has completely changed his career and is now based in the US. Prior to relocating he vacated the OPBF title which is now held by Obara, who himself seems likely to vacate it sooner rather than later.
From what we understand two men met up recently as part of Obara's US training camp and, more excitingly, they sparred together. Sadly however the specific details are scarce though we are glad that, finally, the two managed to meet and trade some leather.
