Over the last 12 months we have repeatedly seen Australian fighter Louisa Hawton (6-0, 3) linked to a WBO female Light Flyweight world title fight against Korean fighter Eun Hye Lee (8-0, 3) [이은혜]. It now seems like Lee has been stripped of that title whilst Hawton will still get a shot at the belt.
Sources in Japan have since revealed that the unbeaten Kei Takenaka (11-0, 3) [竹中 佳] will be facing Hawton for the now vacant title on August 20th at the Komagatani Gym, in Hyogo, where the bout will serve as co-feature alongside the WBO Minimumweight title fight between teenage sensation Riku Kano (10-1-1, 5) [加納陸] and former world champion Katsunari Takayama (30-8-0-1, 12) [高山 勝成].
For both the female fighters the bout will serve as a long awaited world title fight. Hawton had been liked to a bout with long reigning WBC Atomweight champion Momo Koseki (21-2-1, 7) [小関 桃] whilst Takenaka won the OPBF title more than 2 years ago and has tread water since with 4 straight forward wins against limited Thai's.
