Earlier today one of the Japanese local papers has stated that former 2-weight world champion Kazuto Ioka (15-1, 9) will be in action on New Year's Eve, although he will not be getting a world title fight with that needing to be left until 2015.
From the report it's hinted that Ioka and stable mate Ryo Miyazaki (21-1-3, 12) will both be on the card which will come from Osaka. Neither man has a reported opponent set though we have been informed by one source that Ioka was in talks with Filipino fighter John Riel Casimero (20-2, 12), the former IBF and WBO interim Light Flyweight champion.
The Ioka and Miyazaki were among a number of fighters from the Ioka gym who began a training camp today and it's likely that at least one of those other fighters who were in camp will be on the same card. At the moment no details have come from TBS regarding a time slot though we would suspect the card won't be held in competition with the TV Tokyo card on the same day. That card, promoted by Watanabe, has a trio of world title fights on it and it seems clear the boxing viewers would make an easy decision between the two cards.
