On Monday in Tokyo fans had the chance to see Jorge Linares (37-3, 24) partake in a public training session ahead of his WBC Lightweight title fight with Mexico's Javier Prieto (24-7-2, 18).
As part of the training session Linares spent time sparring with Kenichi Ogawa (13-1, 11), doing 4 rounds of sparring in in total. Throughout the spar Linares looked sharp, fast and focused, it was as if he had dedicated himself more to preparing for Prieto than he had for any other fight in his career. Saying that this is a must win fight for the popular Japanese based-Venezuelan fighter who has seen a lot of people begin to turn on him from throughout the boxing world.
Although some may doubt Linares, and his durability, the fighter himself sounded very confident and declared that he would become the champion. Given what we know of Prieto we really believe that if Linares falls short he needs to consider his future.
